Introducing FLYMOTION’s AirMesh™: A MANET Communications Payload for Unmanned Aircraft, Now Available for the Skydio X10/X10D

FLYMOTION is introducing AirMesh™, a MANET communications payload that turns an unmanned aircraft into a flying mesh network node and can effectively increase the operating range of your UAS. AirMesh launches first on the Skydio X10/X10D, with variants in development for additional platforms. It is designed for the moments when ground-based communications fall short, keeping teams, sensors, and unmanned systems connected across the full footprint of an operation.

Communications are often the first thing to break down in the field. Terrain, buildings, distance, and damaged infrastructure all limit how far a ground network can reach. AirMesh addresses that by putting a proven mesh radio in the air as a communications relay, giving operators a way to extend coverage and effective operating range quickly without sending personnel forward to set up relays. Ahead of public release, AirMesh has already secured a large order from a government agency.

Built on Silvus MANET Technology

AirMesh integrates the Silvus StreamCaster® LITE 5200 MANET radio, delivering secure, high-bandwidth communications. Silvus radios are widely trusted for resilient communications in demanding environments, and AirMesh brings that same capability to an aerial platform, including Silvus’ anti-jamming resilience for contested and degraded environments.

With AirMesh in the air, video, data, and voice can move across one connected network, giving everyone on the operation access to the same real-time information.

AirMesh is also compatible across the Silvus ecosystem, including 4200, 4400, 5200, and NEXUS radios. For agencies already fielding Silvus equipment, AirMesh extends the network they have rather than requiring a new one.

Native Skydio Integration

AirMesh is purpose-built for the Skydio X10/X10D. It connects through the aircraft’s native payload interface and integrates with supported Ground Control Stations (GCS). Installation is plug-and-play, with no external batteries, wiring, or aircraft modifications required, so operators can put it to work without reworking their existing setup.

The X10/X10D is AirMesh’s lead platform, and the same Silvus-based payload approach is being extended to other UAS.

550+ Node Mesh Network

Built on Silvus technology, which supports mesh networks of 550+ nodes, AirMesh connects personnel, sensors, and unmanned platforms into a single, real-time network. Every connected device strengthens the network, and as an operation grows, the network grows with it.

The result is a shared operating picture across the entire team, from personnel on the ground to the aircraft overhead.

Backed by FLYMOTION

AirMesh is supported by the same FLYMOTION team that delivers equipment, integration, and training to public safety, government, and defense organizations. From initial consultation through deployment and ongoing mission support, FLYMOTION helps agencies get AirMesh operational and keep it that way.
